9/11/20 Announcement
Aloha Farmers Family,
I have been made aware that one of our employees was diagnosed with COVID-19. This individual was last on campus on Friday, September 4th and had minimal interaction with staff and no interaction with students. Out of respect for this person’s privacy, I will not be sharing additional information but we appreciate the proactive, caring approach this individual took to quickly inform our school.
Our school is taking the recommended precautions to ensure the safety of our students and staff, including notifying potential close contacts and having the impacted areas professionally disinfected over the weekend.
The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) is the lead agency when it comes to officially notifying individuals who may have been exposed. According to DOH, close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of the person for 15 minutes or longer or had direct contact with the infected person’s secretions (e.g., coughed directly into face of contact).
Out of an abundance of caution, meal service operations will be modified starting next week Monday, September 14. I will be in touch over the weekend with an update regarding meals.
Before coming onto campus, students and parents should do a wellness check, bit.ly/HIDOEWellnessCheck. If an individual is exhibiting any symptoms or if they have been directed to quarantine by DOH, they should not come into campus. Also, if someone in your household has been tested for COVID-19 or if they are exhibiting symptoms, please call before coming to campus so we can assess the situation and determine if a visit is necessary and/or appropriate.
I would like to commend our staff for following the recommended safety precautions including wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and being mindful of their movement on campus to minimize interactions. We are doing this to ensure the safety of our campus, I know that you will do the same for our school community.
Please remain vigilant with social distancing and safety protocols.
Mahalo!
